Re(dis)cover Youth Work - a seminar by Y-E-N in Strasbourg
A recap on Youth Express Network's Re(dis)cover Youth Work Erasmus+ seminar in Strasbourg, France by Syuzi and Bistra
In the summer of 2022 a lot of work has been done (and a good amount of rest, so don’t worry). So here’s a recap of an Erasmus+ seminar that happened in Strasbourg by Suyzi - a partner organization representative and Bistra - one of the facilitators.
Youth Express Network is a European network of grass-root youth organizations. Their vision is to reach an inclusive society, where young people, their needs, and their participation are recognized, valued, and appreciated.
Y-E-N organized the seminar with the objective to rediscover youth work after the pandemic. Indeed, young people have been particularly affected by the pandemic. Security measures, lockdowns, and isolation have complicated the task of young people to access their human rights (social life, right to education, etc.).
So the seminar was the platform to connect with fellow-youth workers and learn from each other, to share best practices and what worked and didn’t work in the past 2-3 years. What I admired so much was the space we created the space to accommodate youth workers at the beginning of their journeys as well as experienced ones who would inspire us all so much!
Here’s a link to a video recap of the seminar.
As a TEAM-er, I couldn’t have asked for a better group to work with! But enough of me talking, here’s a recap by one of the amazing youth workers coming from the partner organizations.
“Hi. I am Syuzi Tadevosyan, and I'm from Armenia.
I had an amazing opportunity to participate in the Erasmus + training course from 16 August to 23 August in France, Strasbourg, and now, I want to share my great experience with you.
First of all, the host organization was YEN which is one of the largest NGOs in Europe and which helped me to become one of the luckiest members of this project.
Besides that, I was honored to represent Armenia due to the Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia, which is the largest and oldest NGO in Armenia.
I've been a member of FYCA since 2020 and it's my pleasure to work with a professional team and be part of local and international projects. At this time the topic of training was Re(dis)cover Youth Work.
At the beginning of the project, we started to get to know each other well and had some teamwork, team building, and important meetings. During this seminar, we learned how to become good youth workers and how to improve our skills and use them for our communities’ advantage. The trainers spared no effort to familiarize us with the new tools and the new working methods. We create a strong relationship with other representatives and start to create some Erasmus + examples that will become real projects soon.
The course was very informative and I learned a lot about partnership. The knowledge that I’ve gained in this course will help me in my life. Education is the mother of all professions. Finding ways to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning will help in fighting and overcoming difficulties in youth work and in our society.
Thank you YEN team for your contribution towards making improvements in education and thank you FYCA for this opportunity!”
And now some exciting news - Zarika is applying to become a member of Y-E-N! We’re so excited and awaiting the final decision, and we will let you know, hopefully soon!
